Extracurricular Programs

PS119 offers a wide variety of extra-curricular programs that give students the chance to explore new interests, build skills, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. If you would like to join any of these activities, please contact your child’s teacher for further steps.

CHAMPS Program

The CHAMPS program at PS119 is an after-school program designed to provide students with a safe, engaging, and structured environment where they can participate in educational and recreational activities. The program helps students develop new skills, stay active, and build friendships while having fun. CHAMPS is led by Ms. Marshall, who guides the students through various activities and ensures a positive and supportive experience for everyone.

Cricket Club

The Cricket Club at PS119 is an after-school program where students can learn and play the sport of cricket while developing teamwork, coordination, and sportsmanship. It provides a fun and active way for students to stay engaged after school. The Cricket Club is led by Mrs. Bonanno, who teaches the rules of the game, guides practice sessions, and encourages students to enjoy playing together.

Design Club

The Design Club at PS119 is an after-school program where students can explore creativity through art, design, and hands-on projects. The Design Club is led by Mr. Sammy, who guides students through different activities and helps them develop their artistic and design skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Dance

The Dance Club at PS119 is an after-school program where students can learn different dance styles, improve coordination, and express themselves creatively through movement. It provides a fun and energetic way for students to stay active and build confidence. The club is led by Ms. Francis, with assistance from Ms. Neidjh and Ms. Neidjhy, who guide the students through routines, practice sessions, and performances, ensuring everyone enjoys and benefits from the experience.

Steel Pan

The Steel Pan program at PS119 is an after-school activity where students get the opportunity to learn and play the steel pan, a musical instrument known for its vibrant and lively sound. The program helps students develop musical skills, rhythm, and teamwork while having fun performing together. Ms. Francis leads the Steel Pan program, guiding students through lessons and practice sessions to help them build confidence and enjoy making music.

Chorus

The Chorus at PS119 is an after-school program where students come together to sing, improve their vocal skills, and perform as a group. It offers a creative and supportive space for students to express themselves through music, build confidence, and enjoy teamwork. Ms. Francis leads the Chorus, guiding students in rehearsals, helping them refine their voices, and preparing them for performances.

Step

The Step Club at PS119 is an after-school program where students learn step dancing, a percussive dance style that combines rhythm, movement, and teamwork. The program helps students build coordination, confidence, and a sense of rhythm while working together as a group. Ms. Francis leads the Step Club, guiding students through routines, practice sessions, and performances in a fun and supportive environment.

Drumline

The Drumline at PS119 is a daytime program where students learn to play percussion instruments as part of a coordinated musical ensemble. The Drumline is led by Mr. Sammy, a PS119 alum, who brings his experience and passion for music to guide students through practice and performances.

Theater Arts 

Theater arts is a creative field where actors bring stories to life through live performance. It combines acting, design, directing, and teamwork to create an engaging experience for the audience. In this program, run by Mrs. Diaz, students learn how to express themselves, work together, and build confidence on stage.

Rock Band

The rock band led by Ms. Francis is known for its energetic sound, powerful vocals, and modern twist on classic rock influences. Under Ms. Francis’s leadership, the group blends tight musicianship with expressive stage presence, creating performances that are both dynamic and memorable. Her strong artistic vision guides the band’s songwriting and style, helping them stand out in today’s music scene.
