As of September 2025...

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, in accordance with New York STATE LAW, New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) is updating its policy regarding the use of personal electronic devices. This policy prohibits student use of personal internet-enabled electronic devices—such as smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches—during the school day.

While students may still bring phones to school, they CANNOT use them during class or on school grounds/school trips unless an IEP or 504 exception applies. If students use devices during the school day, schools will respond with clear, progressive steps to encourage better habits.

- Classroom teachers will collect devices during morning arrival routines and secure them in a locked closet.

- At the end of the school day, devices will be returned by the classroom teacher.

- Students who have had their device confiscated will have their phone returned at the end of the day of the first incident. Thereafter, devices will be returned to a parent/guardian/designee.

- You can always be in touch with your child by calling the Main Office (718-377-7696) in case of an emergency. Cell phones will be confiscated if seen by a staff member and returned to the parents only.
